We the members of the Anufo Progressive Union (APU) Accra
Branch are dismayed at the level of distortions that are being perpetuated by
certain individuals and pseudo security experts siting far away from the
conflict zone.

One of such individual is one Emmanuel Kutin who on TV3
Midday News on Tuesday 19th March 2019, professed to know what is happening in
the area but churned out lies to please his paymasters.

First, He claims the DCE mobilised his people for reprisal
action. What he failed or deliberately omitted to say was that the DCE was not
in town when the conflict started. He was in Accra attending the vetting of the
designated NER Minister. He returned to Chereponi on Saturday evening
(16/3/2019) and his military escort even had to save the lives of some Anufo
passengers on a bus from some konkombas on the Yendi – Chereponi route.

If Mr Kutin is on top of his job, he should know that the
climax of Wedding ceremonies take place in Anufoland on Thursdays and not
Fridays. It had been explained severally that the wedding did not take place at
the village of the first shooting incident but in another village the previous
day. Mr Kutin also failed to add that after the incident, the injured was
rushed to Chereponi Hospital and the security rushed to the area to drive away
the perpetrators of the shooting and maintain peace in the village.

At dawn after the shooting incident, another Anufo
(Chokosis) village was surrounded and torched by Konkombas and thus ignited the
current conflict.

Mr Kutin should know that there are also Anufos stranded in
Saboba. Is it not revealing that Mr Kutin did not mention that between 2nd and
5th March Konkomba students in Chereponi suddenly left the school on the
prompting of their parents but Anufo students in Saboba did not leave. What
does that tell us?

Bunkpurugu, Chereponi, Saboba and Tatale Districts in the
Northern Region share common borders with Togo. Why then should Mr Kutin single
out Chereponi as a probable area for infiltration of terrorist. Talking about
Mercenaries, majority of the Konkombas fighting in the conflict are not from
there. They come from as far as Kpasa in the Oti Region, Chamba the hometown of
Defence Minister, MP for Bimbilla, and Gbintri in East Mamprusi. Infact the
military arrested one Konkomba man on Monday 18/3 who claimed to have come from
Sang – Mion District.

Mr. Kutin should know that The mercenaries are rather the
groups that came from all over the affore mentioned areas to fight the bushes
to capture the calm and peaceful Chereponi but not the group that has always
stayed put to defend their motherland.

It is not true that the Military are only at Anufo area but
are in Konkomba areas too. Is Mr Kutin in all sincerity suggesting that there
are no Anufo casualties at the hands of the Military? Very shameful. How can
such a person promote peace? Infact the first known casualty by the military
was on the first day of the conflict when an Anufo was on his way to assist in
putting off the fire that was set of by the Konkombas on an Anufo village and
was mistaken for an aggressor and was shot at when he attempted to run away on seeing
the military. Anufors also have issues
on the way the military conduct themselves in the peace enforcement,
but  a security expert as he claims he
is, sitting in a TV studio to say a professional army supports one side against
the other in a peace enforcement mission is rather unfortunate.

We should commend the Minister of Defence, for what? Is Mr
Kutin not aware that the Defence Minister had the temerity to invite our Regent
and some of his elders  to his office to
preach peace without inviting any Konkomba Chief. He came nevertheless in
search of peace. Who does not know that he is a sponsor of the Konkombas in
their war efforts.

Anufos have never attacked but had always been on the
defence. This is known by all except Mr Kutin and his paymasters. By the way,
Mr Kutin, since he claims to be monitoring the conflict, should tell the
Ghanaian public the status of the case involving Metro Bus driver and his
conductor who were arrested in the Nkwanta District of now Oti Region with arms
and ammunition.

We advise the media to note that Mr Kutin had been hired to do a dirty job for the Konkombas. Mr Kutin should know that Anufos have never had conflict with any ethnic group en mass. Can that be said of the Konkombas?

Anufos have always regarded Konkombas as cousins and will
never attack them but they reserve the right to defend themselves against
attack.

Long live Anufoland

Long live Ghana

Let Peace reign in our land.

Chairman

Amidu Muniru Karandey.
